Pre-Advanced Placement Program at Blevins Middle School
The purpose of the Pre-AP pathway of courses is to prepare the student for AP classes and AP exams, utilizing them to develop skills for college. The Pre-AP pathway allows the flexibility to participate in one or more chosen subject areas, without being obligated to excel in all areas of a broad curriculum. The specific designs of Pre-AP and AP courses are established by the College Board and are meant to be implemented locally according to specific needs and resources.
- Pre-AP is the belief that we can prepare every student for higher intellectual engagement by starting the development of skills and acquisition of knowledge as early as possible.
- Pre-AP is the a set of concepts not a boxed curriculum.
- What is the difference between Pre-AP and International Baccalaureate's (IB)? IB is curriculum-based, whereas Pre-AP is a teacher-professional development set of content-specific and wider pedagogical strategies.
